Planning your fly-in fishing trip to Northern Ontario starts with packing smart. All floatplane flights into Fish Buck Lake have a 100lb weight limit per person. Here are a few suggestions to help your group stay within that limit:

• Have your group share items such as bug spray, shampoo, sunscreen, and rod holders — or use travel sizes
• Plan your meals together. Canned food adds weight while frozen foods keep your coolers cold. Empty canned goods into Ziploc bags or plastic containers to save on weight and reduce trash
• When choosing between plastic, tin, or glass containers, go with plastic — it's lighter and easier to dispose of
• Use frozen concentrate or powdered juice crystals instead of bottled drinks
• Replace batteries at home before you leave
• Remove extra packaging from new gear and gadgets
• Smaller coolers and boxes fit in the floatplane more easily — lots of small cardboard boxes work better than large plastic bins
• Duffel bags work well for clothing and pack more efficiently than hard luggage
• Place loose items together in a single box
• Walkie talkies are great for larger groups out on the water
• Limit rods and tackle to what you expect to use and share rod cases within your group
• Label all boxes and coolers with your group name
