Fish Buck Lake Wilderness Lodges family owned Northern Ontario

Meet the Moffatt Family

We are John, Shannon, Alex, and Joseph — better known as JoFish. As the owners and operators of Fish Buck Lake Wilderness Lodges and Outposts, we will be there to greet you when you arrive and take care of you throughout your Northern Ontario fishing vacation.

John was born and raised north of Hornepayne and spent his early years at a neighboring wilderness lodge — literally growing up in the bush. Shannon came from a beef farm in central Ontario, where she was operating tractors by age ten and had a childhood fascination with northern wilderness survival. Between the two of them, there is not much that Buck Lake can throw at them that they haven't seen before.

After years working together at Granite Hill Lodge, we purchased Buck and Bingwood Cabins in 2009 and have been building our dream ever since. We brought tremendous hands-on experience to the table and have grown the operation to include fly-in outpost cabins on some of Northern Ontario's finest remote fishing lakes.

Alex and JoFish have grown up at the resort and are now young men actively involved in every aspect of the operation. Many of you have watched them grow over the years — and they remember you and speak of you often throughout the winter.

Being able to spend our summers working together as a family on Buck Lake is something we never take for granted. Thank you for being part of our story.

— Shannon
